Believe it or not, this editorial appeared as the lead in The Washington Post this Sunday. Key (unbelievable) sentence fragment: “and it ought to mandate an already-overdue rethinking by the “this-war-is-lost” caucus in Washington, including Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).”

Apparently, among other things, the editors have noticed that Sadr’s recent actions, far from enhancing his position, have resulted in the routing of his militia. This despite all the hand wringing in some circles about how shrewdly Sadr had played his hand. For an example see http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1726763,00.html
